Daddy/Gabey date

To say that Bryan is a comic lover, would be understatement. So, Gabe of course likes them. Now being only 4, he only can see certain material. Like Donald Duck and we have some Star Wars ones that Uncle Minny bought.
Bryan's been dying to go to a comic convention and this one is on the smaller side and more accessible since it was local. Gabe was free and so we thought it would be a perfect daddy/gabey date and they rode the MAX which Gabe LOVED.
Most of the material was not appropriate for Gabe, so Bryan had to hurry past 75% of the show, which was a bummer for him. We'll have to wait until Gabe's older to do that again, but they had a great time.

Bryan is an Old Man

Happy Birthday to my BFF. He is 35 and that is basically pushing 40 in my mind. :)

35 things I love about Bryan (in no particular order):
  1. He falls asleep REALLY fast. The second his head hits the pillow but tries as hard as he can to stay awake and listen to my nightly monologue.
  2. He is a supportive husband- he listens to me a lot. I know it must be difficult but he cares- I can tell and I'm thankful.
  3. He's happy- it takes a lot to get him sad or mad.
  4. He loves to have his head and back rubbed.
  5. He loves Mt Dew
  6. He has a hard time driving well and talking at the same time He's gotten better at this over the years. There used to be times where we'd pass the turn because he was talking instead of paying attention.
  7. He stops at the grocery store for me
  8. He goes to work every morning and brings home the bacon for us
  9. He searches for missing items in the garage that I need
  10. He forgives
  11. He gets up early
  12. He tells me I'm pretty when I'm not
  13. He gets excited over eating junk food with me.
  14. He plays with the kids.
  15. He loves Egg nog.
  16. He gives me back rubs A LOT. Even when he is dead tired.
  17. He rarely complains.
  18. He thinks the best of people.
  19. He likes to draw and is VERY good at it.
  20. He can talk your ear off
  21. He LOVES comics
  22. He likes to take long naps but rarely gets them and rarely complains about it.
  23. He loves music
  24. He loves to snowboard and I hope that I can get the hang of it so we can take family snowboarding trips someday.
  25. He picks up the doggy doodoo
  26. He loves Video Games
  27. He helps around the house a TON
  28. He wrestles and tickles his boys
  29. He gives lots of kisses to me and the boys
  30. He's cute
  31. He cries at anything that has to do with Loyalty
  32. He will get/help me with things over and over and over again. Even if he's just sat down. I think I'm a pretty annoying wife and I'm glad he likes me anyway.
  33. When he's home he helps with bath and bedtime routine and I love that we work well together.
  34. He helps fold and put the laundry
  35. I can make him smile even when he's really mad at me.

I'm glad that I have you to experience the sweet moments of life.

i love you

Action Sports Just Do It design contest

My man won a T-shirt design competition at Nike! 4 of the designs he sketched up during his 2 hour ride home on the max. AH YEAH SO proud of him!!
Prize - ALL new Nike snowboarding gear equaling:
  • snowboard
  • boots
  • bindings
  • jacket and pants
They liked them so much that they wanted a couple of them adjusted for skate and surf too and I got hooked up with gear as well. Guess Bryan will have to teach me how to snowboard. :)

Daddy

To the father of my children. I am constantly amazed, humbled, and appreciative at the kind of dad that Bryan is. From the moment he gets home from work, he is hands on: he cleans, he changes diapers, he wrestles, he plays, he pretends, he disciplines, he teaches, and he loves. He has a lot on his plate right now, but he tries to give 100% to everything he does. When Bryan decides to go after something, he does it. He never asks for anything in return. I admire my husband in so many ways and am so grateful that I married someone who inspires me to be a better person everyday.
We LOVE you, daddy!
Happy Fathers Day!

JR High Snowboarding trip

One of the last big JR High events for Bryan. This whole topic is very bittersweet and I'll go into that later, but for now pictures of the fun!

Busy Bee

Bryan has A LOT on his plate and one thing that he likes to do at work is write all of his daily tasks down on a noticeboard. I found this AWESOME one at IKEA and got it for him so that he can keep track of everything he needs to get done and it allows me to see everything too. LOVE IT!

7 years and 18 months

Yesterday marked the fact that Bryan and I have been married for SEVEN YEARS. We had a quiet evening at home just the three of us. Dinner, chasing each other in circles around the house, reading books, laughing, NO TV...it was great!

Saturday we had a no-kiddo day together. Walked around the mall, Lunch, afternoon movie matinée, good talks. Much needed us-time.
Yesterday also marked the fact that Gabe is 18 months old. Boy time has sure flown by.

Update

Sick and Tired!!!

I am sick and tired of being sick. I am sick once again. I think that I have been sick 4-5 times since Gabe was born. Just a few day's ago I could tell something was off and I was getting that sick feeling. A gal from my work came in on Thursday and said she could barley talk her throat hurt so bad. My throat had been hurting for a day or two, but when I got home Thursday my throat was getting worse and by the time Bryan got home from class I couldn't talk. My mom and sisters are sick too. Gabe sounds a little sicky but doesn't seem to be that bad? Mom went to see the doctor because she seems to have it REALLY bad and they don't want her around anyone for a while. I worked from home on Friday and now I might have to Monday too. Works pretty flexible but it stresses me out. I wish I had a back up sitter.

Luckily Bryan has managed to stay away from being sick. Which is a good thing with everything he has on his plate. Speaking of that, Bryan sent me an email the other day all excited that he got into the last three classes his needs to graduate. If we calculated right his graduation will be on June 13th. Just a little over 4 months away. I am SO excited I can hardly stand it. I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Two beach weekends in a row

I took the Friday and Monday off of work Feb 8th and 11th. We had our annual women’s retreat at Cannon beach and I went with Teresa. This was the first time I have left Gabe overnight and I wasn’t nervous about leaving him home with Bryan since he watches him Wed’s and Thurs’s every week, just nervous about bed time since I am the one who puts him down every night and just being away over night.

Bryan went to class that morning to take his mid-term and I finished getting things packed up and hung out with Gabe. He was so fun and wanting to sit in my lap and play. We read a few books, watched his baby Mozart movie, and played with his stacking cups. He's now stocking them on his own. I love watching him do it. We all clap afterwards and then he claps. Gabe likes to do things his way. He doesn't clap"normal" (two palms) he pats the top of his hand.

Rabbit trail…bath time has been a struggle lately. I WAS bathing him in the kitchen sink just because it was easier on my back, but the splashing was getting OOC. The kitchen, Calie and I were soaked after bath time. I started putting him in the tub and oh my gosh this kid is ALL over the place. He’s crawling from one side to the other, trying to stand, falling on his bum then splashing then crawling again and when I tell him to sit down he just looks at me with this HUGE smile on his face. Grandma bought him this tub within a tub kind of thing and so now he’s not trying to crawl everywhere, but he is still standing up and trying to climb out of it. So bath time is NOT fun for mommy. It’s a struggle and I’m constantly sitting him back down and saying “No, Gabe you have to sit down” in which he again looks at me with a huge smile and stands up again. AHHHHHH Any suggestions from you moms out there are TOTALLY welcome!!!!!

Anyway, Bryan got home just in time to take me to Teresa’s by 11:30. We wanted to leave by 12. We had an easy drive there. Chatted the whole way…traffic was light and the roads were clear. We got there kind of early…check in time was at 3:30. We roomed with Betty, her friend Melanie and Katie. We went to dinner at Bill’s like we always do before the first session. Jody was our speaker. She and her husband teach our class at church. I think this year was probably one of the best for me. I totally missed Gabe the whole time…thankfully Moo and Lora had their little ones with them so I could get some baby love. Teresa and I didn’t go on the beach this time. We both hadn’t really brought “beach shoes” and the weather was just icky most of the time. We did walk around and look in some of the shops with Moo and Ronna (her MIL). I slept great the first night. Took two Tylenol PM’s which totally knocked me out, took a short nap Saturday and then slept OK Saturday night. I had an amazing time and am glad I went.
T drove me home and boy was I excited to see my little Gabey! Bryan took in my stuff and I said goodbye to T.

Bryan
was cleaning up the house when I got home and Gabe was napping. :o( That was ok though apparently the nap was much needed. Bryan and I sat on the couch and talked about our weekends. Gabe and daddy had a fun weekend too. Bryan had a ton of homework so they stayed home and he worked on that Friday night as Gabe permitted. Saturday Bryan had a haircut with Marcella. It’s so cute because Bryan takes Gabe with him to almost all of his haircuts since they are on the day’s he watches him. Gabe sits quietly on his lap and watches Marcella cut Bryan’s hair AND all the women in the place crowd around him and give him a ton of attention. Hehe I told Bryan that next time they keep saying “he’s SO cute!” Bryan should say “Well, thanks but I’m married.” Hehe

They went home after that and got ready for their guests. Dan was bringing “the boy’s” over (Kaleb and Garren) and Randy T came over too. The boy’s spent the night and helped Bryan out with Gabe. Bryan said that both the boy’s did really well with him. They both fed him, but I don’t think they changed a diaper. They had a ton of fun and I think they wore Gabe out. I can’t believe that “my boy’s” who I watched since they were born are watching my kid now. I feel SO old! I have a picture of Kaleb and I in our basement…I’m guessing he’s about 3 in the picture and now he’s taller than me. SO weird! Time sure does fly. It is pretty neat to see them with Gabe. After Dan and Randy left Bryan asked Kaleb and Garren what time they should get up in the morning and they said 6:30am. Bryan and I both have a hard time getting up on Sunday's so I thought that was pretty funny. Bryan got them a Starbucks on the way to church and checked Gabe into the nursery. I didn't have anything to worry about Bryan did great and had great help too! ;o)
When Gabe woke up from his nap I walked in to get him out of his bed and he gave me the biggest smile ever while bouncing up and down. I love how he stands up in his crib now waiting with anticipation for you to walk into the room.

Last weekend we went to the beach with my family for my 30th birthday. Everyone got to go and we found a nice house at the last minute. Mom, Gabe, Julie, Jaden and Nathan left early on Friday and then Bryan, Janell, my dad and I left after work. I was dying to see Gabe by the time we got there. He was still up and so I got to spend a little time with him and put him down to bed too. The layout of the house was nice but things were weird. The gas oven didn't work but the stove worked, the house was slightly slanted, the faucet under the kitchen sink broke and water went everywhere, you had to leave the doors open in order for the rooms to stay warm and that wasn't possible because the house was small enough that we had to close the doors so that the boy's wouldn't wake up. It was so much fun despite that and it wouldn't have been a traditional family vacation without some kind of adventure. Nathan did all the cooking. He is a good cook and a great barbecuer. The weather was absolutely beautiful. We walked to the beach on Saturday and later in the evening the guy's left because Nathan had to work and both Bryan and dad had to be at church. So we had a girls + two baby's night.

Thank you family for making wonderful memory for my birthday

Work

I've been emailing back and fourth with one of the HR gal's at MG2 and she asked me if my return date was still in September and I told her yeah, that I was thinking of having it be September 5th.
As I think about it more...I'm just jumping back in FT and go go going. I wonder if it would be better to go back PT for a week or two at first to ease my way back in and adjust to not seeing Gabe. How do you just adjust to not seeing your child all day? I know that women do it all the time and I know and have friends who have done it, but it's really starting to get to me. I have a little over a month left and the closer I get the more my stomach starts to drop and my eye's begin to well up. I have to go back to work, but I don't want too. I don't want someone else taking care of my baby. I want to take care of him DANG IT. sniff
I had lunch with T yesterday and we talked a little about this. How she dealt with it and how she to started feeling depressed a month before having to go back to work. She told me to not let it ruin that month dwelling on it. Make it the best and spend it being happy with Gabe.
This is harder than I thought it would be. :-(

Speaking of work...Bryan has an interview at Jantzen. Pray Pray Pray

Can't Sleep

Do you ever have nights when your brain just won't shut off and let you go to sleep? I am having one of those nights.

The last two days it has been in the 100's, SO HOT! We don't have the luxury of having AC in our house and I'm off work right now so I'm not in a nice AC building (definitely not complaining about that though). Our house has been 83 84 and 85 and I've been living in a pool of sweat. EW Our basement stays pretty cool, but have I spent any time down there...nope?!

First off let me start off by saying that Bryan still hasn't found a job. Severance has run out and it's starting to get frustrating. I find myself looking back at my Storm post. I wrote "I have this peace and it can only come from God." I feel that peace slowly slipping away. God is still in control. He gives and He takes away. He is who He is no matter where I am. I just need to continue to lay this at His feet. I love this quote:

"If there ever were a test of our faith - if there ever were a test of the motives of our worship - it is when a storm rolls into our lives. Sometimes God calms our storms. Sometimes He chooses to ride them with us." quote by Casting Crowns

Bryan had a meeting with Randy to basically tell him that he was done with the JR High ministry. We had been praying about it and talking it through and when he came home after the meeting he told me that he wasn't done and that he now had an office at the church that he was going to go T-Th to work on lessons, look for jobs, things needing to get done etc. I think he has managed to get a lot done so far besides design work because he needs a MAC for that or rather he'd prefer a MAC.
Anyway, he went to his air conditioned office yesterday and left me and Gabe to roast in our house. ;o) We actually went over to my parents house and hung out with Julie and cousin Jaden. Julie bought a $10 pool and we were going to put the boys in. Gabe didn't end up going in because he was napping in Jaden's crib. Jaden had a blast though.

Today Gabe and I stayed home and we ate, played, slept, did laundry, cleaned and went to have dinner with Kate, Eloise and Lily.

FUN TIMES!

It says it's supposed to be 89 today so a tad cooler.
Most go to bed now!
